Teen Programs

Join us on Saturday, May 14 from noon to 4 pm, for the first ever (in Chenango County) Type-In! in the Community and Youth Services Room.  All ages are welcome –  bring your own typewriters to show off or use one of ours.  There will be Speed typing contests, Door prizes, and you may enter to win a Smith-Corona Super Sterling portable!  In the last five or six years type-ins have multiplied around the globe, drawing typewriter enthusiasts and collectors. Inspired by Richard Polt’s new book, The Typewriter Revolution, Brian Drake decided to set up the first type-in in Chenango County (and probably the Southern Tier). From Civil War re-enactors to Steampunks, people are searching out older technologies that separate one from the wired world. Come to the Oxford Memorial Library and experience these great old machines and the folks who love them.

On Friday, May 20, our Family Night Movie will be Land Before Time – Journey of The Brave at 6:30 pm.  After his father doesn’t return from an important journey, Littlefoot and company set out to find him. This movie is gated G and runs for 1 hour and 22 minutes.  Refreshments – including our freshly popped popcorn – will be available, usually for $1 or less.

Craft Night on Thursday, May 26 at 6:30 pm will continue with our fairy theme this month – we’ll be making Fairy Light Jars.  If you have a pretty jar you would like to use, bring that along to this evening.

Have an idea for a Teen Program??  Let us know – we would be glad to hear what programs YOU would like to see the Library offer……
